Meet our Team

Our team bring decades of mineral exploration and commercial experience.

Fabian
Baker

CEO

Geologist and exploration industry executive, Fabian Baker has a track-record of discovery and leading new approaches in responsible mineral exploration.

As Managing Director of ASX-listed Kingsrose Mining, he gained selection to the BHP Xplor program, which evolved into industry-leading US$5m/annum Exploration Alliances in Scandinavia. Previously, as founder and CEO of TSXV-listed Tethyan Resources, the team introduced new thinking to a historical lead-zinc-silver mining camp in Serbia and discovered two porphyry copper-gold deposits prior to being acquired by Adriatic Metals in 2020. As Chief Geologist at Lydian International’s greenfield Amulsar gold discovery in Armenia, Mr Baker was integral to the discovery of +4 million ounces and delivering a maiden Feasibility Study. Additionally, he was a recent founder and director of Highlander Silver in Peru, and former Exploration Manager for Royal Road Minerals in Turkey.

Dave
Fincham

COO

Dave Fincham brings significant exploration, strategic and operational experience from senior roles in both Major and Junior companies.

As former VP Exploration Americas at Anglo American (AAL.L), he played a leadership role in the discovery of ~1BT of 1% CuEq at the Los Bronces mine, ~ 50MT of 1% CuEq at the Soldado mine, a new zone of high-grade mineralisation at the Quellaveco project and several Cu-Mo-Au porphyry systems across the Americas. He also led several country-entry processes to expand the company’s exploration footprint into new frontiers. More recently as President and CEO of Highlander Silver (HSLV.V), he led acquisition of the San Luis project (Peru) from SSR Mining, one of the highest-grade gold-silver resources of its size globally.

Andrew
Tunningley

Chief Geologist

Andrew Tunningley has over 20 years of international mineral exploration experience across multiple deposit types, commodities and operating jurisdictions. He is a Qualified/Competent Person for reporting to NI43-101 and JORC Code requirements.

He began his career in Mongolia with Ivanhoe Mines conducting regional porphyry Cu-Au exploration, followed by over 10 years consulting to juniors and investment firms on greenfield through to resource estimation stage Au, Cu, Zn, Ag, iron ore and coal projects. Recently he served as the Exploration Manager for Tethyan Resources, focused on porphyry and epithermal systems in Serbia, before joining Kingsrose Mining as the Head of Exploration where he oversaw their Ni-Cu Exploration Alliances with BHP and the multimillion ounce Penikat PGE Exploration Target in Finland.

Scott
Spurrier

Exploration Manager

Scott Spurrier is a geologist with experience spanning generative exploration to feasibility-stage projects across Europe, Africa and North America. Most recently, his focus has turned to new business, target generation, and expansion into new jurisdictions. As Exploration Manager at FrontierX, Scott is technical lead on the BHP Xplor generative uranium project.

He previously helped build a Nordic portfolio of magmatic sulphide projects at Kingsrose Mining, leading technical workstreams during its BHP Xplor participation which resulted in a multi-year US$5M/annum non-dilutive Exploration Alliance. At Adriatic Metals, Scott contributed to regional exploration across the Vares Project and growth of the high-grade polymetallic Rupice deposit through the discovery of Rupice North. Before Adriatic’s acquisition of Tethyan Resources, Scott worked on porphyry Cu-Au and epithermal Zn-Pb-Ag systems in Serbia’s Western Tethyan Belt.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, we are private by design. This allows us to operate outside of short-term public market pressures and deploy capital on what matters most to making a viable discovery (fail fast, learn fast, build locally grounded sustainability from day one). We are less constrained by public disclosure and timelines. This enables us to deliver greater cost efficiencies, move in and out of projects with less friction, and achieve a competitive edge.

FrontierX is owned by its management team. This promotes an 'owners mindset' which positively impacts all aspects of the business from capital deployment to responsible governance and long-term value creation. Each partnership has its own ownership structure to reflect the specifics and aims of the opportunity.

We are funded by our partners. We co-design each partnership to achieve strategic alignment, leverage shared capabilities and maximise impact. Investment amounts and timeframes are fit-for-purpose, linked to defined exploration playbooks and discovery stage gates. FrontierX operates on an 'at cost' basis, passing cost efficiencies to our partners with our upside linked to tangible performance and discovery milestones. Our goal is to handover majority ownership of a complete project to our partners: mineral resources, permits, social licence, team. FrontierX retains a royalty, and a strategic advantage to transact on discoveries that fall below our partner's project thresholds. Misaligned incentive structures, we believe, are a root cause of poor capital discipline and discovery rates in mineral exploration. Our partner's success is our success.

We work with entities who wish to explore and create value through discovery. This includes major and mid-tier mining companies, specialised funds, investors, and sovereign exploration and research programs. We work globally, with a specialisation in base and precious metals and uranium.
